June outing
1) Those going to the Glens by bus on Wednesday 8th (Note there are still 3 places available on the bus)
The bus will leave the Belfast Road Business Park at 9am sharp. The first event will be the Dalriada U3A meeting in the Carnlough Community Centre at 11am -- talk on the Glens. Soup and sandwiches after the meeting. Guided tour of the Glens after the meeting, ending up in Cushendall. A vote will be taken on the bus in the morning to decide whether to wait for a meal in Cushendall or elsewhere before returning home.
2) Those going to the Glens by car on Wednesday 8th and waiting overnight
As above for the arrangements on the 8th -- meeting at 11am. To find the Community Centre, go through the village, past the hotel, under the arch, turn left at the supermarket opposite the harbour. The community Centre is well signed at the top of the hill. There is an option for those staying over to meet for the evening. For those staying in Cushendall there are suggestions of dining in the Golf Club, the hotel and/ or an evening in Johnny Joe's.
3) Trip to Rathlin on Thursday 9th
The ferry sails from Ballycastle (16 miles, 30 mins, from Cushendall). A booking has been made for the 11.15 ferry but we need to be at the harbour by 10.45 to get tickets organised -- bus passes are valid. At approx 11.40 Bertie's bus will meet us on Rathlin and transport us to the observatory. It returns after an hour to take us back to the harbour/ hotel/ pub area. The bus costs £5 per head -- no concessions as this is a private enterprise. We return on the 4.15 boat and should be back in Ballycastle at around 4.40. The summer outing will be to Cushendall and/or Rathlin on 8th and 9th June.
